ISA CropCare

Siltac SF is one of the most used insecticides in Europe

  • A proven effect against pear psyllid, spider mites, aphids, whiteflies and thrips.
  • Comparable to and often even higher kill rate than the best conventional chemical pesticides.
  • Without chemical and harmful residues in crops.
  • Fantastic spreading effect and very high penetration capacity
  • Little to no effect on beneficial insects.
  • Very suitable for use in an IPM strategy.
  • Due to the physical effect, resistance cannot develop.
  • Also recommended for use in integrated crops.
  • Used on several orchards in the Netherlands as the only product against the pear psyllid without Movento
  • Reduction of costs because of the efficacy against multiple pests simultaneously
Siltac SF, simply the best green insecticide on the market

Siltac SF Special Formulation contains a combination of different silicone polymers that leaves no harmful residue and therefore have no influence on the maximum residue limit (MRL).

No chance of resistance and residue-free
After application, Siltac SF spreads over the pest and creates a specific structure; a three-dimensional polymer net. The net fixes (immobilizes) the insects, shrinks and actually squeezes the insects to death. This leads to a rapid killing of the insects on the leaves and plants. Due to the physical effect, insects cannot build up resistance. In addition, Siltac SF is completely degradable and leaves no harmful pesticide residue (no MRL).

Conservation of beneficial insects and natural enemies
Another major advantage is that Siltac SF has little to no effect on beneficial insects such as predatory bugs and predatory mites. (see article IPM Impact). This is because beneficial insects are often physically stronger and move more than harmful insects. The Siltac SF net cannot get a grip on those strong and mobile beneficial insects, so they continue to live. Research by PC Fruit in Belgium shows that only 10% to 15% of beneficial insects are eliminated. Siltac SF has no harmful effect on honey bees or bumblebees.

Cost reduction
Siltac SF has a high kill rate on pear psyllid, spider mites, aphids, whiteflies and thrips. With 1 spray you can control several harmful insects at the same time. Other and different (chemical) products are no longer necessary. This will save you considerably in costs.
This research by PC Fruit shows that the pear psyllid can be well controlled with the use of Siltac SF alone.

Siltac SF Special formulation has a proven effect against red spider mites, white flies, aphids, psylla pyri and trips

3D IPNS:
Three Dimensional – Immobilizing Polymeric Net Structure.

What is it?
It’s a type of silicone polymer used in Siltac SF. The unique structure of this polymer allows it to effectively immobilize and kill insects and mites.

How does it work?
The 3D IPNS technology creates a physical net structure around the pest, preventing it from moving and subsequently crushing the pest to its death. This mode of action is different from traditional chemical pesticides, making it a safer and more environmentally friendly option.

Benefits of 3D IPNS

  • Effective pest control: It is highly effective against a wide range of insects and mites.
  • Safer for the environment: As a physical mode of action, it has lower environmental impact compared to chemical pesticides.
  • Reduced pesticide resistance: Due to its unique mechanism, pests cannot develop resistance to 3D IPNS.

Microscope images
On the two black-and-white images on the right, you can see actual microscope images of Siltac SF. The net structure is clearly visible on the body of the pest.
The first image shows an SEM photo of the 3D IPNS technology structure, magnified 250 times.

Control of aphids (including woolly apple aphids), spider mites, rust mites, psyllids, scale insects larvae.

Before using the product it is necessary to perform a preliminary trial on a few trees to check possible phytotoxicity.

Recommended dilution rates:
0,1% – 0,15% (100 – 150 mL of the product per 100 L of water)
Recommended amount of water: 500 – 750 L/ha

Pear trees
Recommended dilution rate: 0,10% / 0,12% (100mL/120 mL of the product per 100 L of water)
Recommended amount of water: 400 – 600 L/ha

Do not use Siltac SF when excessive honey dew is present. This may cause damage to the leaves.

When applied in early spring, Siltac SF is very effective in eliminating the European red mite.
The procedure should be performed when larvae hatch from overwinter eggs:
apple tree – at the stage of between green buds and pink buds.
plum trees – at the stage of green buds.

Notes (restrictions in use):
The fruit of some apple varieties (e.g. ‘Golden Delicious’) and the leaves of some varieties of pears (e.g. ‘Conference’) may be sensitive to Siltac SF. Special care should be taken when using Siltac SF on these varieties.

To minimise the risk of plant damage, treatments should be applied in conditions allowing for fast drying of spray solution on plants (in daytime, during dry weather conditions). Do not carry out treatments late in the evening, at night or in the morning.

Plants in bloom stage – in some species, the product may cause damage to flower petals.

ISA CropCare is never liable for any damage caused by the incorrect use of the product.

Control of aphids, spider mites, whiteflies. Suppression of thrips.

Before using the product it is necessary to perform a preliminary trial on a few plants to check possible phytotoxicity.

Recommended dilution rates:
0,08% – 0,12% (80 – 120 mL of the product per 100 L of water)
Cucumber, lettuce, Chinese cabbage: 0,1% (100 mL of the product per 100 L of water)
Tomato, pepper, aubergine, herbs: 0,05% – 0,07% (50 – 70 mL of the product per 100 L of water).

Recommended amount of water:
The amount of liquid to be used depends on the size of plants. Use sufficient spray volume to ensure thorough coverage of plants.

Notes (restrictions in use):
Do not spray seedlings and young plants.
Crops in bloom stage – it may damage petals in some species.
The product can cause foliage injuries to some varieties of lettuce and some species of herbs.
To ensure plants safety treatments should be applied in conditions allowing for fast drying of spray solution on plants (in daytime, during dry weather conditions). Do not carry out treatments late in the evening, at night or in the morning. It is especially important in case of sensitive crops (e.g. tomato, pepper, cucumber).

ISA CropCare is never liable for any damage caused by the incorrect use of the product.

Control of white flies, aphids, spider mites, scale insects larvae, blackcurrant gall mites.

Before using the product it is necessary to perform a preliminary trial on a few plants to check possible phytotoxicity

Recommended dilution rates:
0,08% – 0,12% (80 – 120 mL of the product per 100 L of water)
Recommended amount of water: 500 – 800 L/ha

In order to control blackcurrant gall mites, Siltac SF should be used during the migration period of this pest – from the beginning of the growing season until the stage immediately following the blooming period (2-3 treatments applied at intervals of about 7-10 days). During the flowering of blackcurrant bushes, the product should be applied at a concentration of 0.1%.

Notes (restrictions in use):
To ensure plants safety treatments should be applied in conditions allowing for fast drying of spray solution on plants (in daytime, during dry weather conditions). Do not carry out treatments late in the evening, at night or in the morning.

ISA CropCare is never liable for any damage caused by the incorrect use of the product.
